Louisiana's Inaugural LASEFCON Esports Conference: A Resounding Success

The Louisiana Scholastic Esports Federations (LASEF) recently hosted its first-ever esports conference in partnership with LACUE, LASEFCON, marking a significant milestone for the growth of esports in the state. The event, held in New Orleans LA, drew a passionate crowd of educators, students, and industry professionals eager to explore the educational and competitive potential of esports.


LASEFCON offered a diverse program featuring 11 engaging esports sessions from NASEF/LASEF Speakers covering topics ranging from coaching strategies and curriculum integration to the technical aspects of esports production and looking past gaming and what esports can truly be. Attendees also witnessed the exciting first-ever LASEF State Championship for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, where students showcased their skills and competitive spirit.

One of the highlights of the conference was a dynamic expo area showcasing the technology that drives esports. Attendees had the opportunity to experience cutting-edge gaming equipment, learn about the latest advancements in esports broadcasting, and see firsthand how students are actively involved in running and producing esports events. A particular highlight was the "EXTREME ARCADE," featuring custom-wrapped arcade machines built by students from East Baton Rouge Parish Schools, thanks to a partnership with Extreme Networks.

LASEFCON generated significant buzz and enthusiasm, with attendees expressing strong interest in establishing and developing esports programs in their own schools and communities. The conference solidified LASEF's position as a leader in driving the growth of esports in Louisiana and its commitment to changing the narrative around competitive gaming.

"We are thrilled with the success of LASEFCON and the positive response from educators and students across the state," said Jeffery Harrison, Exec Director - LASEF /Director of Network Operations for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System and new LACUE Board Member. "This is just the beginning. We are dedicated to expanding esports opportunities for all students in Louisiana and demonstrating the incredible educational value it offers."

With the momentum generated by LASEFCON, 2025 promises to be a pivotal year for esports in Louisiana. LASEF, in partnership with the Louisiana Association of Computer Using Educators (LACUE), is poised to lead the charge in making esports accessible to every student in the state.
