Another Season, Another Level Up: Our Esports Program in Baton Rouge, Louisiana Just Keeps Growing!

We've done it again! Another electrifying season of our esports program here in Baton Rouge, Louisiana has come to a close, and what a ride it was! Championship day was a whirlwind of excitement, celebrating nine hard-earned titles. We welcomed a surge of fresh faces into our community, and witnessed one student achieve the incredible feat of three consecutive championship wins! Talk about a legend in the making!
LASEF | EBREL Championship
This season was our most ambitious yet. We expanded our usual seven events to eight, adding a special expo in January to support our new partnership with the Army. With an average attendance of over 150 students per event, the energy was palpable. It was truly inspiring to see so many players find their place within our ever-growing esports family.
But the heart and soul of our program? That's undoubtedly our student ambassador program. These aren't just participants; they're the architects, the innovators, the leaders shaping the future of esports right here. Forget adults calling the shots – our broadcasts are run by students, from the shoutcasting desk to the behind-the-scenes IT and production crews. In fact, our championship livestream was masterfully handled by an eighth-grade prodigy! This is our secret sauce: empowering students, trusting them with ownership, and watching them soar.
If you caught our championship broadcast, you know the raw emotion and transformative power of esports firsthand. Our EBREL President and VP shared heartfelt moments, revealing how this program has helped students shed their egos and embrace a sense of belonging. Their shared passion? To ensure future generations have the same opportunities to find their community.
As we close this chapter, we're already looking ahead to the next season, just five months away! Our mantra? Always level up. Even our eighth-grade livestream whiz is spending his summer honing his OBS skills, preparing to lead production in our new arena, slated for completion in 2027.
We remain humble, grateful for the journey, and determined to be a driving force in the local esports landscape. Our new affiliation with USAEL opens even more doors, and we're excited for what's to come.
Looking forward to 2025-2026, our focus shifts from player victories to academic triumphs. We're committed to integrating esports curriculum into classrooms and after-school programs, solidifying its place as a valuable educational tool. This isn't just about gaming; it's about building skills, fostering community, and empowering the next generation of leaders. Stay tuned – the best is yet to come!
